Campbell Soup Foundation

Background
Philosophy/Focus The foundation's key priorities are nutrition and health and improving the quality of life in their host communities.

Major Fields of Interest Health care; health organizations; nutrition; youth, services; minorities/immigrants; community development; voluntarism promotion.

Diet and Health Program: Because diet and good health are critical to the well-being of society, the foundation places its highest priority upon advancement of the linkage between diet and health. Priorities include application of nutrition/biomedical research relating diet to the alleviation, prevention, and/or understanding of chronic diseases; development of continuing nutrition education programs for schools and the public; and symposia/seminars/workshops that focus on and highlight new relationships between diet and health.

Quality of Life in Plant Communities Program: The foundation has been concerned about people in the "communities where Campbell has a significant presence." Complementing corporate "safety net" support for federated campaigns and local community service activities, the foundation invests in the future with grants to effect structural change. That can mean economic development projects, affordable housing ventures, a sense of direction for teenagers, and minority access to higher education.
