Houston and Harris County; no grants are made to organizations out of the
United States or out of Texas unless the purpose of the grant is to
benefit a Texas project. Limited funds are available for grants outside
of Houston and such applications are discouraged. Grants awarded on a
year-to-year basis only; no future commitments, no multi-year grants; no
grants to individuals.

Selection Criteria |
Grants are made
only to nonprofit, tax exempt organizations. To be eligible, an
organization must have received a determination letter from the IRS
indicating that it is a 501 (c) (3) organization and not a 509 (a) private
foundation. Departmental requests from large institutions such as
colleges and universities should be accompanied by a letter from the
institution's main office of development or the office of the president.

Application Procedure |
Contact the Fund
office for a copy of
Grant Guidelines and the Grant Application. Grant proposals
are required to
include all of the following materials: a one-page cover letter, the
completed application
form, the proposal with specific information (up to a five-page proposal
length), the project
budget, other funders, certification of tax-exempt status, a list of
members of applicant's
Board of Directors, six copies of either the applicant's one-page general
information brochure
or fact sheet, specific financial information, and a copy of a completed
checklist that is
included in the Grant Guidelines. No grant applications or
proposals are accepted via
e-mail or fax. Proposal items may be stapled but must be unbound. No
spiral binders or
plastic/metal report fasteners. Applicants should not submit more than
one proposal per year.

and December; final notification after each quarterly meeting.
