One
of two NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the state, U.
T. M. D. Anderson Cancer Center focuses exclusively on patient care,
research, education and prevention of cancer. Services for outpatients
include the innovative multidisciplinary care centers that first opened
in 1996. The Gastrointestinal Center provides specialized care for
(among others) bowel, colon, rectal and anal cancers by a team of
experts who collaborate to provide a tailored treatment plan to each
individual patient.
