This section has been updated from the original Sixth Edition to replace access and contact information that was no longer accurate.

Overview and Mission Statement

The Texas Cancer Data Center (TCDC) is the unique resource dedicated to reducing the impact of cancer on Texans by collecting and providing computerized cancer data on resources, services, and statistics and by providing the link to other agencies and services. Texans have access to this unique resource not duplicated elsewhere through the funding of the Texas Cancer Council (TCC), a state agency. The Data Center was established in 1986 and has been providing Texans with online cancer information since 1987.

The TCDC provides information on health professionals, health facilities and services, cancer statistics, population and community resources available in Texas. Each database is updated a minimum of once a year.

Texans can access this information without charge via the Internet at http://www.txcancer.org/.

The Profiles are provided in order to increase public awareness of cancer statewide. These Cancer Profiles are updated annually and are available upon request from TCDC and the Texas Cancer Council. They have also been used by planners, researchers, legislators and other decision makers in their cancer-related endeavors and to promote cancer awareness.

Profiles on each county in Texas are also available online on the TCDC website.
