Despite great advances, cancer remains the second leading cause of death in Texas, accounting for nearly one of every four deaths.  

CPRIT’s mission is to expedite innovation and commercialization in cancer research and to enhance public access to evidence-based prevention programs and services throughout Texas, ultimately enhancing the potential for a medical or scientific breakthrough in the prevention of and cure for cancer.
